I'm sorry to say I haven't experienced USMC training, but from what I understand the DIs break you down from your wise ass teenage rebellious immaturity and when that's done they bring you back up as disciplined Marines. Those values remain with you and help you succeed throughout your life. I've heard this over and over again from my USMC relatives, friends, and SI acquaintances. I know it's true.
