But one really has to question WHY our great nation is no longer able to fight a war with a small nation (22 million) without being streteched to the limit?

Get serious - we fought and won the war in matter of months with minimal casualties to us and them. The coalition was hardly "stretched to the limit" during the war. The "War" in Iraq is over - their team lost.

When fighting a guerilla insurgency against a bunch of barely educated criminal thugs that have relatively easy access to weapons, the number of troops isn't the issue. It's a political, diplomatic, public relations battle as much as a fight - and George has a strong track record in losing that kind of battle whenever he goes outside the USA.
