So the Treasury sells treasuries to the Fed, who pays with nothing of value. They pay with nothing because it just comes out of a worthless and exploding balance sheet. The nothing is given to players like Goldman Sachs, who use it to prop up the stock markets. The stock markets being up despite all the bad news is supposed to give people confidence all is well. Goldman recruits a bunch of incompetent boobs fromn the soup lines, puts suits on them, and has them say they see "green shoots" showing the economy is improving. The people are supposed to put their life savings back into the markets so GS can make a profit reselling the stocks. GS has great quarters, and gives all their brokers huge bonuses for all their hard work. The government points to the stock market and GS earnings as proof that the economy has "green shoots" and their brilliant Quantitive Easing plan is working.

It's the American way! The only problem is that it's about to blow up in their faces.
