I certainly dont have the qualifications of the individuals cited in your post, but on the other hand I believe I am impartial as I have no dog in this hunt. IMHO since it is very likely wars in the future will be of the nature of Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa the obvious need is to increase the size and deployablility of Special Forces. Along with that for larger engagements seems to me the USMC should be increased. All this takes a lot longer then to train normal Army recruits thus I suggest we better get on with it right away. I also think we need to increase the regular Army so as to AVOID having to rely so much on the Reserves and National Guard. To me THOSE forces should be used for NATIONAL SECURITY not for foreign adventures and when deployed should be deployed only sparingly. What is going on now IMHO is going to DESTROY the national guard and reserves concept. jdn
