Paper trading? Blast that paper trading! Real Tick's paper trading mode really lulled me into a false sense of ability. Buying on the bid, selling at the ask. And I could wait until the last second and the "order" would still go through since (at least at JPR) any trade at my price or better would give me a fill. So, feeling pretty confident, I start trading DELL. Not puny 100 share lots, but, what the hell, 1000 shares a pop. But, what happens when there are no ISLD shares available? I'll try SOES. Drat, rejected due to invalid price adjustment (I was trying to split the bid/ask). So I change it. Rejected again. I'm not sure why. Okay, let's try Selectnet. Nope. Again, I'm clueless as to why it was rejected. Finally, in desperation, I put a Market Order to short through SOES. That gets rejected as well! Clearly, I've got a lot to learn. And paper trading is not going to teach me. So, for now, hello Dell, but 100 shares at a time. If anyone can offer some tips on getting filled via various Routes (in other words, what did I do wrong), I'd greatly appreciate it.
