I was listening to some shmuck on NPR that is supposed to be Yeltsin's biographer. The guy was wondering why Yeltsin chose Putin, and was surprised Yeltsin's been so uncritical of Putin.

Hey, how about the fact Putin was "chosen" for Yeltsin at the point of the gun, and Yeltsin was quietly "retired" to his dacha? He's been quiet because he's been a virtual prisoner of the State.
