Part of Id software's allure to gameplayers is the ability to create their own levels which they are urged to do. If they sell them then they break the law. It stands to reason that there are going to be companies that wish to create and sell addons and levels. I would imagine that the Id/Activision deal is typical. They are obviously giving Activision the rights to publish levels and addons. Now, if you have a choice between making some cash for rights or not making anything at all due to your deal with the program distributor, which do you choose? Sounds like Activision is doing the whole wrap, programming and distribution. There are at least 2 other Quake addons in the market, Eternal Darkness is one, which are completely unattached to Id or GT.
