K, Rudy is a bit funny. It looks as though he didn't know that Republicans were in charge across the board in 2001: <Rudy Giuliani said if a Democrat is elected president in 2008, America will be at risk for another terrorist attack on the scale of Sept. 11, 2001.

But if a Republican is elected, he said, especially if it is him, terrorist attacks can be anticipated and stopped.

The Republicans failed to protect the USA in 2001, so I don't see why they should do better next time around. It's not as though there hadn't been lots of warning from various attacks in the USA, including right on the Twin Towers, and around the world.

It's not even as though they didn't get any hints that something was up. During 2001, actual officials in the USA did have information that an attack could be on the go, but they ignored them. Condoleezza, the actual National Security Advisor, couldn't remember the information that was presented at a meeting she didn't remember attending. She said nobody could have imagined the attack, which means she admits that Al Qaeda has a better imagination than she and all her officials. I note that I imagined such a hijack a year or three before the 911 attacks.

It's not hard to imagine doing several at a time either, as it would not be possible to do consecutive attacks as the cockpit doors would be shut afterwards.

All one needs to do is think, "Gee, I wonder how we could attack people in the USA and do a LOT of damage and kill or maim a LOT of people." Even disruption would be quite effective - look how a few signs in Boston got the local yokels all worried and shut the place down. Sprinkling white powder simultaneously around the USA and putting signs on it saying "Danger, White Powder Present" in case nobody noticed it, would cause pandemonium. Especially if it contained homeopathic amounts of uranium or sarin or the really cool stuff, polonium 210. The black market price for that stuff must be through the roof.
