Wow..

That sure flies into my wheelhouse

I wasn't even aware that there was any sort of organizing going on around this branch of belief/non-belief

Reflecting on the piece though, it sorta seems to me that it is a slippery slope

I have arrived at my atheism over time as a very personal journey

I simply cannot accept the forced suspension of common sense and reason that accompanies any of the prevailing religions with the possible exception of some Buddhist tenets, but even then the added baggage of somehow needing to muster with like minded individuals seems superfluous

My take on atheism is that it is both a reaction to what organized religions are peddling, and a way to view the universe that doesn't test my ability to suspend reason and logic

As such it doesn't lend itself to organizing to advance any agenda

It simply informs my world view and the attitudes I develop on any issue are those that emerge from a view of the facts as a I interpret them as a result of this mindset

Seems to me the very idea of trying to associate with others of a similar bent is in fact sliding toward another form of religion...which is part of the original problem
