A comparison.

I've been writing post after post about the need for US Special Forces (SF) to be handed a larger role if not the leadership of our effort in Iraq. This comparison should help explain why.

SF trained and led indigenous troops in weekend fights against the Taliban. The result = 136 dead Taliban one dead SF.
I have seen and heard a significant number of reports of even bigger results in Afghanistan with no friendly KIAs and little or no collateral damage.

Some 3,350 conventional American soldiers have been KIA in Iraq. If our conventional forces were getting similar results as our Special Forces they would have killed 455,600 insurgents.
