Sure enough Q, here it is. Think so? I think that Solaris will only serve up chunks (big chunks) of Office as ActiveX components, and these components will download, install, muck with the registry, and then contact the server to see whether the user is licensed. Megabytes, and minutes later, the suite will come up for the first time, and demand payment. Each time you go back to the site, new ActiveX components will load to 'upgrade' you to the latest-and-greatest version, muck about with the registry again, and then demand more payment, after you reboot your machine. Assuming that the machine comes back up after the reboot.
So what we have is a race between a thin-client, install-less, free Office suite through StarPortal, and a fat-client, installed, rented Office through Verio.
May the race begin. I think I know how this one will end.
