... but hasn't the US government in effect been encouraging China's growth and strong balance of trade position by making it tax-advantageous for our corporations to outsource jobs to China and other Asian countries (as if their cheap labor was not incentive enough)? Isn't this the mechanism by which China has acquired so many soon-to-be-worthless US dollars that China would now (understandably) rather trade for more substantial assets? This seems to be true regardless of whether China is seen as a political/military threat or just an economic one.
