First watch these words from shrub...then read below.

Congressman Robert T. Matsui (D-CA) issued the following statement today in response to Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's comments on Social Security:

"Social Security faces a challenge, not crisis. Once again I respectfully disagree with Chairman Greenspan and his analysis of how to maintain Social Security's solvency in the face of skyrocketing deficits. One cannot look at just Social Security and say that cuts to the program will improve the skyrocketing deficits Americans face. The biggest threat facing Social Security is the same as what has caused the budget deficits - the misplaced fiscal priorities of the Bush Administration. Massive tax cuts for the wealthy and four years of reckless budget management - not Social Security - have led to record deficits. Cutting Social Security benefits would not appropriately address the issue of the long-term deficit.

"In addition, improving Social Security's solvency will not require, as Chairman Greenspan phrased it, 'abrupt and painful choices.' Instead of spending trillions of dollars on tax cuts, and undermining Social Security and Medicare, the Bush Administration needs to reexamine its misplaced fiscal priorities."

November better get here soon. shrub's administration can't reexamine anything. They haven't examined ANYTHING yet. They're like teenagers with credit cards and no income.
