Mark & TC,

Thanks for the link TC. I have printed it out and will study up on it. Quick scan......I checked my C:\Windows\Inf folder and have no OEM*.INF files with 0 size.

Unfortunately Disk Doctor found an error in \Microsoft\outlook express as follows;
Norton Disk Doctor has found the following errors in \...0-6082-11D3-8E76-DC0AE36B8E79}\microsoft\outlook express
Entries with invalid dates
Entries with invalid time stamps
Do you want to fix these errors?

I selected not to fix so that I might find out what this is about although I doubt it.<gg> I don't see any connection with the Windows Update problem.

Thanks again to you both.
:) Bob
