On September 12, 2001, the day after the terrorist attacks, France introduced UN Resolution 1368 which described a terrorist attack as a threat to international peace and security. Resolution 1368 gave the US an unequivocal right to destroy Al Qaeda and Afghanastan's Taliban regime.
Few of the Rupert Murdoch-owned AM radio talkingheads or the Rupert-Murdoch-owned FoxNews talkingheads will admit this, but France indeed has been a true friend to the United States.
But the Bush Administration in its desperate want for this war to cover over America's bad economy, in its obvious inability to describe a justification for this war without resorting to propaganda, deletion of fact and a complete obfuscation of the truth, in its specific and certain belief that bringing Saddam down virtually assuring Bush's reelection, is perfectly willing to also make, like the innocent Iraqi citizens, France and Germany victims as well.
In no manner, shape or form does the Bush Admnistration recriprocate the important gesture that France showed the the US the day after 9/11. In fact, appears almost as if Bush's zealousy and need for this war has now made France an enemy standing next to Saddam. This is vote-getting of the lowest order and shows manifest the danger of the Bush presidency.
That the Bush family, the Cheney family and many others within this oil-drenched administration will also get an oil and nation reconstruction bonus, that the corporate donar trail will be filled with GOPlights is a mere bonus, compared to the Karl Rove-perceived political benefits of winning reelection. |
