Russias vocal opposition to the use of NATO force is the perfect launching pad for their involvement in peaceful negotiations. I hope it comes to this but I have no idea if Russia is still cohesive enough as a government to handle the situation. Yeltsin has been a disgrace of late and they have severe problems of their own. But if they were able to go in and achieve a peaceful resolution I think the European community would be more inclined to deal favorably with them in matters of banking and commerce. I think it would be a win win situation. We would lose absolutely nothing under such a scenario in my opinion. We have shown to often that we are willing to use force, maybe it's time we show the world we can also use discretion. jmho Markc.
