Tennyson might have seemed to " have sat on a grassy back and written twaddle" to some, but his words stir the heart now and then, and scan well, unlike mine. He as a metaphoric genius, and I think deeper than a mere wordsmith reflecting natural glory. I would compare his romantic vision to the art of Sargeant and some of the imagery of Blake, albeit less surrealistic than WB. I think the critics of Tennyson's depth lack the depth so see what lies behind his vision and the artful rendition of it that allows us to see the majesty and drama of the world he paints with words.

beat.

I saw this eagle was hanging around a peak one day, above a sea that was kinda rough as you could see the waves from way up there. Real nice sky all around, kinda blue and hazy. Then all of a sudden he dives like a firecracker going off. Musta seen something.
