MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(MARKET WIRE)--Sep 8, 2006 -- Osisko Exploration Ltd. The Company's core project, the Canadian Malartic gold property is progressing as planned and management is very pleased with results obtained to date. The current definition drill program is expanding the size of the gold deposit beyond what was originally modeled by the Company. Over 38,000 metres have been drilled by Osisko to date (see recent press releases for drill results). The main mineralized zone is open depth, to the south, to the west and to the east towards the Sladen extension. The current Phase Six drill program on the Sladen extension is progressing well with four diamond drills and results will be released as they become available.

The Canadian Malartic property hosts potential for a significant gold resource (see the Company's September 8, 2005 press release) and is located near existing infrastructure. Osisko is evaluating the property for a possible large-scale open pit, bulk-tonnage gold mining operation. The current resource definition program will include the calculation of an NI 43-101 compliant, inferred gold resource scheduled to be released in the fall of 2006.
