Included in the system are the Compressionist 250 MPEG-2 VBR video encoder, the Audio Compressionist Dolby Digital 5.1 channel encoder and DVD-video authoring software. The software is Daikin Industries Ltd.'s Scenarist2. The base configuration comes bundled with a100BaseT Ethernet network and is priced at $185,000. A high-performance network option that uses Fibre Channel for file transfers will be available later this month for the Power Mac, Windows NT and Silicon Graphics Inc.'s [SGI] O2. (Minerva, 408/487-2001.) Kao............................................ Kao Infosystems has started shipping DVD titles manufactured at the company's California facility. The plant increases Kao's replication capacity by 300,000 units per month. The company also has a manufacturing capacity of 167,000 units monthly at its plant in Tochigi, Japan.
