I thought Grantham's piece was rather sanguine. My reference to the last two pages was a reminder of Tobin's Q, and the current state. I enjoy reading something intelligent from someone who looks down before she looks up.

Vis a vis VSH: have you looked into the guts of the new Apple G4/5 mini? The overclockers have been removing resistors which are barely visible. Wonder who makes them, and how they get soldered? AND, if you wanted to worry about the passive business, how about this nano-stuff. Self-assembly and carbon nanotubes that can be applied in solution. Looks like circuit boards will be printed up with inkjet technology. Perhaps may appear about the time that Social Security goes bust, but not good for commodity parts makers.
