New director and senior management appointments SouthernEra Resources Limited SUF Shares issued 25,695,265 Oct 5 close $7.45 Tue 6 Oct 98 News Release Dr. Christopher Jennings reports Effective immediately, SouthernEra has appointed Patrick C. Evans as a director of the company. Mr. Evans is a partner with Geneva Consulting Group, an international business consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, he was a senior career diplomat in South Africa's Foreign Service. His last assignment was as South Africa's Consul General to Canada. He also served in Washington, Ottawa and Chicago, and has held a number of senior positions within the South African government. Mr. Evans holds degrees in both international and constitutional law, and in metallurgy. During 1994, Mr. Evans was recalled to South Africa where he acted as spokesperson for both the South African National Inauguration Committee and for President-elect Mandela during the transition period prior to the assumption of power by the New African National Congress. Also, the following changes in the company's senior management positions are effective immediately: A. Lee Barker, currently vice-president, will become senior vice-president; Kim Freeman, currently chief mining engineer, will become vice-president, operations; and Frank van de Water, currently chief financial officer, will become vice-president, finance. The increased responsibility assigned to these three positions will enable Dr. Jennings to concentrate on growing the company through new exploration ventures, and through mergers and acquisitions. |
