Good news AH on DWSN, one of my main energy plays, hoping for a nice pop on Monday Associated Press Dawson Geophysical 1Q Profit Triples Friday January 28, 6:16 pm ET Dawson Geophysical First-Quarter Profit More Than Triples on Demand for Gas and Oil Exploration MIDLAND, Texas (AP) -- Dawson Geophysical Co. reported Friday that its first-quarter profit more than tripled because higher fuel prices have spurred demand for gas and oil exploration. The seismic data acquisition company said its quarterly income grew to $1.6 million, or 28 cents per share, down from $506,000, or 9 cents per share, a year ago on higher demand because domestic oil and gas companies have increased exploration and development activity in response to higher fuel prices. Revenue rose 39 percent to $21.6 million from $15.5 million last year. Dawson Geophysical shares rose 28 cents, or 1.4 percent, to close at $19.76 on the Nasdaq.
