norton rescue disk set cannot copy certain files....

i just ran across a symantec knowledge base article on this problem (that i have been more or less living with for the last couple of years), and wanted to document it here for future reference and in case anyone else sees it and goes.... "oh, yeah, that happens to me too!".

Error: "Rescue cannot copy specified files to the Rescue set" when creating a Rescue set

i will be trying the solution here before too long and will post the results.
