You are mistaken. Kerry's campaign (not the Swift boat vets) has backed away from a number of the things Kerry has said over the years. Included are the Camobodia Christmas tale, and the circumstances of Kerry's first PH incident. Furthermore, more squirrely things about Kerry keep turning up. Like the Silver Star citation signed (supposedly) by Sec. of Navy Lehman during the Reagan administration. Lehman says it is a complete mystery to him - he didn't sign it or write the new language in the Silver Star citation. Weird. He already had the Silver Star - apparently just wanted more words in the citation praising him.
