I really don't think the $90/share tender offer expiring on March 19th is all that pertinent.

I can't believe PA actually expected that he would see the stock go that low. Personally, I believe he made the statement in order to greatly increase the net value of his preferred convertible stock.

It was a nice kicker to what seems to be an already healthy risk premium he received from the placement of preferred stock.

And psychologically, it did place a floor under the stock at $90 since the perception is that PA will buy the stock should it ever reach that level again. But of course, he's under no obligation to do so.
