Ok, an update to my "rumor".
I was originally speaking to a friend at a north american regional carrier, he told me nok had cut tdma 4th quarter shipments to 30% of handsets ordered by them. I put a call into another friend at a major north american carrier - he later confirmed that he was told to "expect capacity constraints" on his 4th quarter shipments of tdma handsets. the story they both were told was the same- that a chipset manufacturer was not producing tdma chips up to spec, and that the plant had to be shut down until the problems were worked out. interestingly, i got the same exact story too- that nok had the manuf shut down for 2-3 days and re-tool, then ramped back up for a few days, tested, and found that the problem wasnt solved, and then shut down. they assume the shut down will last 3-4 weeks. we should be in the midst of that shut down now, given the timing. thats what i got- i dont know if this info is in the analysts' reports yet.
