Thanks, for the feedback, philv.
Following is a further explanation similar to a response I provided to another member:
I skimmed through hundreds of recent posts on this thread, and 99% had nothing to do with gold, commodities, metals, exchange rates or anything even remotely investment related. Discussing and promoting individual political ideology is not the same as discussing geopolitical influences on investments.
The "politics affects this investment and therefore is on topic" justification could be used on any investment thread. The problem lies in that political discussion invariably turns into a discussion of political ideology and partisan rhetoric, drowning out the possibility of any meaningful discussion of the stated subject, as is the case here.
Based on member feedback, either the thread will be renamed and relocated to the Politics Forum siliconinvestor.com or, if there are members interested in sticking generally to the topic (gold), the ideological political discussions themselves will need to be carried on within thread(s) in that forum. Either way, you'll be welcome to post to this or any other subject, but ideology-based political discussion will be allowed on this thread only if it gets relocated to the Politics Forum.
There is really no reason that Investment threads need to host partisan, ideological political discussions when there is unlimited availability of threads where such discussions are on topic. Accordingly, we are working to segregate the ideological political threads from the investment threads for the benefit of all members. |
