<F you
Wish every one of them would walk off their job right now.
Every FN one of them.
This country would be on its knees in seconds.>

Mish, good evening. Don't take it so personal. I'm only stating an opinion. I believe that the programmers that started working in the late nineties were definitely getting the advantage of a hot job market. Back then I saw programmers straight out of school with a bachelor's degree making six figure salaries that were as much or more than lawyers graduating from law school. I agree with you that if the programmers walked off their jobs the country would be in big trouble but what does that have to do with my opinion on their salaries. It's all about supply and demand.

<I do not know what you do, and if its other than trading I bet you are overpaid as well.>

Of course I believe I was under paid in my previous job but most people who work for an employer feel that way.

<Just how the F are you determing fair value?
What the F do you know about it?>

Fair value is determined by supply and demand. Back in the dot com days, demand was great and employers were willing to pay up. Now the demand isn't there and if the prospective employee doesn't like the proposed salary he doesn't have to accept it. He may think the 1999 salary levels were fair value but the market place for programmers is saying something different. The market place determines fair value. I just happen to think that the salary levels that they get now is fair value as opposed to the late nineties levels.

<Every FN job is going to India eventually anyway so they can offer 50% less than MM is. May as well walk off right now and just tell their employers to Go F themselves.>

Of course every employer would look to pay less for the same amount of work if they can get away with it. It's just a fact of life and if programmers think they are underpaid they can go get a different job.

PS - By the way I find your analysis on max pain extremely insightful and keep up the great work.
