Just last week I bought a Sony HDR-HC3E (that last E makes it more expensive - PAL) for 1150 euro's, a reasonable deal. It's a reasonably compact nicely designed 1080i camcorder. I plan to use it for point and shoot. I'm still using my two year old Acer laptop (A64 3000+ DTR) though and for the first time it is a bit slow.
