As for the recall there seems to be less principle behind it but also it doesn't seem like something that would be quite as bad absent principle.

The notion that we can have continuous elections seems a very bad thing to me. If we were going to do that, we should replace our system with a parliamentary one rather than trying to operate one within the other. One of the bulwarks of our country is that we accept the will of the people and let our elected officials serve out their terms with at least a polite respect for the office whether we like them or not unless they do something truly hideous, in which case it should be obvious to all, not just the partisans, and the official should resign. If we scrap that notion, I find that very scary.
