AMD sets market share target

Advanced Micro Devices' Ben Anixter, VP of external affairs, said the chipmaker's goal is to achieve 30 percent market share by the end of 2001. At the company's Dresden Fab 30 plant, where its Athlon processors are manufactured, Anixter said AMD (AMD: news, msgs) expects to ramp to 50 percent capacity by the end of 2000. By the end of 2001, AMD anticipates being at 100 percent capacity at its Dresden facility. Anixter added that the company's goal of being at $1 billion in operating profits is within reach.
