Buck, Via may have various conflicting motives with its processor initiative, and Samuel being s/370 certainly conflicts with what AMD needs. But everything I've read about Samuel says it's a dog, worse than the P4 without the frequency headroom or "SSE optimization" fog to make up for its deficiencies.

For integrated chipsets, there are alternatives in the works. In the medium term, Nvidia looks like a lot better alternative anyway. On a pure business basis, you can't fault Via too much for developing s/370 first, it's still a bigger market. Of course, if Intel ever figures out how to get the Rambus monkey off their backs, I suspect Via's prospect will shift dramatically.

Cheers, Dan.
