Sorry you misunderstood. I wasn't able to express clearly what I meant. English has always been a foreign language to me.
The fate of the 6 year old kid should be decided by his parent(s). I am only questioning the motive of the father.
Every parents want their kids to have the best they can offer. As a kid who grew up in a poor, communist country, I know. I had seen so much tear from the parents when they have to part with their kids, allowing them taking a 50% chance of survival so that they will be able to live in a free country. People can live on minimal amount of food, but if their mind cannot be free, and their imaginations have no chance to be proven, either right or wrong, then they don't have a real life. The parents know that, because they live it, not just by theory. There are stories all over the world, though different culture, language, education ... about parents letting their kids go for freedom, for a better future, a better chance in life.
I don't know, and neither do most of us, whether taking the kids back to Cuba is what the father wants, or may be that is what the Cuban government wants. It is true that the politician should not use the kid as a step in advancing their career. It is also true that the relatives should not take the law into their own hand.
I just feel sorry for the kid. I also feel sorry for the father. I know deep down inside, he wants his kid grow up as a free person. It's just that he can't tell us, and no one can really prove why. The father knows that. His mom knew.
Let's wish him the best. |
