Scott, Re: I notice that there were two HP systems both using dual Xeon 5160 yet one scored 140,246 and the other scored 169,360. Have you any idea why???>
Since you asked, Benchmark Tuning. TPCC is about I/O. Some folks will say it's about Storage, but I don't.
The specs on the two systems.

Note Ramp-up time, page 3 of each PDF. Time to load critical parts of the database into memory. 20 minutes on the slower machine, 52 minutes on the faster one.
Note faster machine has 64G Ram, slower one has 32G. They're building Ram disks for indices, Proc. storage, and intermediate results.
The more you can *STUFF* into ram the less I/O you have to do.
Re: Also, the Opteron system that you posted was only using 4 clients while the Woodcrest systems above both used 8. How does the # of clients affect the benchmark score?
The short answer is *Not very much*.

I'd have responded sooner but wanted to give ephud a chance.
"Nope, sorry", and "Don't know" are about what I expected.
Realize that he's a slew of research available but very little actual knowledge.
  IMO, Natch.,
