polarization of Americans - almost a hate developing towards fellow Americans

We should fight this impulse by all means possible. It is dangerous. Not sure if this is a good analogy, but if a person is blind, you don't kick him - you help him. And it needs be done in a polite and friendly manner. And remember that if they decline your offer, you must respect their right to do so.
