Service anybody?

CPQ acquires DEC in order to profit off of servicing accounts assuming that will provide them with revenue in any industry slowdown.

Last year our Eric Strohmeyer asked at the annual meeting when Novell would offer and expand its services group. It was another oh yah we do that too type of thing.

But look at the model. Novell is making most of its money off of enterprise customers with direct accounts, or in partnership with very large VAR's. The channel is relatively bust because there is no hot product. Now CPQ isn't too different from Novell in its model, yet CPQ is going after the servicing of its installations. So why hasn't Novell developed a similar program?

Correct me where I am wrong but isn't it time they admitted to the 40% solution instead of this sentiment about how the next good product is going to move server momentum back in their direction.
