4/3/09 update
Perhaps they were turned off by one of those scary FDA "Black Box"warnings, but whatever the reason the Bulls avoided biotechs this week despite their enthusiasm for other tech stocks. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 3.20% CYTD, or "Contest Year To Date," (vs. down -1.68% CYTD a week ago). In contrast, the Nasdaq Biotech Index lost further ground while the Contest median held about even. At Friday's close, the NBI was down -5.97% CYTD (vs. down -3.38% CYTD a week ago) and the Contest median was down -7.29% CYTD (vs. down -8.06% CYTD a week ago).
GENE's portfolio took over first place, with PRAVN dropping to No. 2 and RKRW holding on to third place. The CYTD percentages were: GENE up 26.98%, PRAVN up 24.32% and RKRW up 21.14%.
At Friday's close, 14 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black and 15 of the 32 were beating the NBI.
Enjoy the weekend folks!
