yes, connectix is privately owned. rumour is that Apple tried to buy them out about two years ago (to get RamDoubler) but it did not go. Apple/connectix have quite strong ties (ie Mode32). I do not recall if Apple has an equity position in connectix. for more info on the emulation trick-that is emulating a pentium chip rather than windows software-see emulation.net
