RE: "lockdown"---remember Windows2000 is going to be released by the second half of the year. Part of the solution to Y2K may be Windows2000. CFO Maffei just wants to be a bit cautious---just like he does every quarter. If he does not predict doom and gloom for the remainder of the year, that usually means things are pretty at Microsoft. You just have to learn to read into what he says. I am waiting for the conference call.

Tech, as much as I wish it weren't so, Win2000 will be too late for Y2K remediation. Don't forget, a large percentage of Y2K problems have/will hit BEFORE Jan 1, 2000.

- NYC FY2000 started Apr 1, 1999.
- US Gov FY2000 starts Fall (Oct 1?) 1999.
- etc, etc

However, I fully believe that Win2000 will "rock 'n roll" when it RTMs. Heck, I'm writing this from it :).

(all usual caveats, not speaking for my employer, IMHO, yada yada yada).
