Looks like it's Newbridge's turn on the firing line:
KANATA, Ontario -(Dow Jones)- Newbridge Networks Corp., a manufacturer of computer networking products, late Monday said it expects net income for its fiscal second quarter ended Nov. 2 to be 10% to 15% less than first-quarter earnings per share. For the first quarter ended Aug. 3, 1997, the company posted net income of 37 Canadian cents a primary share and 34 Canadian cents a diluted share. In U.S. dollars, Newbridge Networks (NN) posted first-quarter net income of 26 cents a share. Kanata, Ontario-based Newbridge Networks said it expects second-quarter revenue to be about equal to first-quarter revenues of C$435 million. The company said revenue for its time division multiplexer business is expected to be about equal to the business' revenues for the first quarter. The company said wide-area network packet revenue, made up of frame relay and asynchronous transfer mode systems, are expected to increase sequentially by about 15% compared with the first quarter. The mean estimate of analysts surveyed by First Call is for net income of 31 U.S. cents a share for the second quarter. For the second quarter ended Oct. 27, 1996, Newbridge Networks posted net income of C$62.8 million, or 37 Canadian cents a primary share or 36 Canadian cents a diluted share. In U.S. dollars, the company posted net income of 36 cents a share. Final results for the second quarter are to be released on Nov. 25. |
