Palm Beach real estate:

A Palm Beach Record

By AMIR EFRATI
Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
October 29, 2004; Page W12

Financier Ron Perelman sold his oceanfront estate in Palm Beach on Wednesday, closing for just under $70 million, a spokeswoman said. The deal appears to set a record for the most expensive single-family home sale ever, according to the National Association of Realtors. Through the spokeswoman, the Revlon chairman and Citigroup Inc. investor confirmed the sale of his seven-acre Casa Apava estate on "Billionaire's Row," a stretch that's home to the likes of Donald Trump, rocker Rod Stewart and Netscape co-founder Jim Clark.

A person close to the deal said a National Football League team owner bought the property. Neither Mr. Perelman nor Lawrence Moens of Lawrence A. Moens Associates Inc., who represented the buyer and seller, would disclose the buyer's name.
