He is hardly saying that the US is weak militarily which is what I think you mean. What he was saying in that interview is that Muslims were able to withstand the might of a great world power. He's pumping up the ego of the Muslims.

I agree with you. I chimed in when you said you hadn't seen him mention he thought we were weak. He would have to be pretty stupid to think we didn't have a strong military. Our weakness is in our resolve.

However, he does think we're weak in another way........when it comes to the American psyche. And he's right. We have become too soft......we are unwilling to do what's really needed;

I'm with you 100%

to eliminate, or vastly reduce our dependency on oil

Until you said that. That wasn't where I thought you were going. It would be nice to ween ourselves off the oil, and we will one day. Doing it artificially by jacking up taxes isn't the way and would nuke our economy in the mean time.

We need the resolve to kick the terrorists asses is all right now.

We laugh when we hear that the Europeans put a huge tax on gas to discourage usage, and call them bad socialists.

As I said before, you seem to want to live in europe...

We fight tooth and nail against every mass transit or interurban rail proposal.

Some of them are just plain stupid. We have a big country, they have small ones. Rail just doesn't work for areas that aren't dense. There is a rail plan going forward in Raleigh. I thought it may be a good idea until the knuckleheads left the airport off of the system, and the transit authority has it's own reports that say nobody will ride it and it won't help traffic. Yet they still want to build it. Go figure.
