Thanks for the explanation I keep seeking tools for approaching day trading in a systematic manner. At the moment, I have been using a combination of my read of the market and support/resistance points. I need to refine this further and this will take time. It is good that you have joined this thread even though you don't trade futures at this point. I moved to the DC area--actually Northern VA-- towards the end of June. Given that you are 45 mins away from DC, I suspect that you are in VA or MD.
