Paul, You're Killing Me… LIBERTAS BLOG Wasn't I just saying nice things about Paul Newman? Wasn't I? Like only a few days ago? Didn't I just go out of my a way a couple of times to say nice things about Paul Newman? Must everyone disappoint me? Must everyone eventually disappoint me? Sheesh, Paul, get a grip: Newman writes, "I am proud now to stand with a new generation of Democrats against a president who poses what I believe to be the biggest internal threat to American democracy in my lifetime." At least he says "internal threat," unlike these chowder-heads more freaked over the Patriot Act than al-Queda. But, still… Paul, want to see a threat to democracy? Try lighting a cigarette in Manhattan. Yeah, let's have the government take over healthcare — that's real democratic. And no guns for anyone except criminals and the ATF — that will keep the people free. How many days have we gone without an attack in this country while enjoying the democratic freedom of lower taxes and the resulting economic boom? How many days? At least al-Queda is a real threat to excuse perusing those library books. Your party's making up global warming (or is it global cooling now — what month is it?) to take away all our freedoms. READERS: Next time I praise a liberal, please remind me of this.
