John/Thank you for the reply.

In my Trains magazine under the title "How to spend $1.3 billion",it says UP is going to spend $221.4 million upgrading SP's Sunset route,
El Paso, Texas-Los Angeles-Add 100 miles double-track. I presume that
is in your territory.
I have no connection whatever with any railroad nor have I any relatives past or present working for a railroad. I've just had this all pervasive interest in railroad construction, history and operation
since I was a kid. We do have something in common, we are the almost same age I have eight months before I reach the half century mark.

Back to railroads, I was most interested in UP's merger with SP in extending their intermodal service. In the Pacific Crescent Corridor
paralleling I-5 they now have a new single line service from Los Angeles to Seattle and Portland, this should take a lot of traffic
from the truckers. I think you'll see a big increase in intemodal traffic on UP.

Have you run any of the new AC traction 4400 HP locomotives or have
you heard other engineers comments about them?

I believe the market is ready for a correction, I don't know by how
much and when (after the elections perhaps)but when it happens I'll be buying Union Pacific stock.
