Eventhough XICO is a damned "dog", its valuation of 34 % of book value at $ 1 3/8 price is rather tempting! It has a beta of 1.3 and is listed in Valueline expanded edition issue of 3-12-99 as having one of the "widest discounts from book value" and an electronics industry rank of 28. I was kind of surprised that there are companies worse than XICO, since electronics industry has several hundred companies!
The book value of $ 4 is what ATMI was offering a few months ago in their "smart card" deal with XICO! If the industry is expanding and upcoming, there is a strong probability that some day XICO will hit $ 4 (whenever that is!). My hands are itching to take a risk for a few hundred shares.
