fonix Corporation Announces New HealthCare and Interactive Technologies Groups to Accelerate Sales and Revenue
fonix appoints four new officers to support strategic groups
WOBURN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 1998-- fonix corporation (NASDAQ:FONX - news), the innovation leader in human computer interaction technology, today announced two new strategic operating groups, the HealthCare Solutions Group and the Interactive Technologies Solutions Group. The groups combine recent acquisitions with fonix' core technology to better maximize its expanding line of products and technologies. In support of the Company's new operating structure, fonix also announced the following appointments: Ivan Mimica to vice president and general manager of the HealthCare Solutions Group; Bill Kania to vice president and general manager of the Interactive Technologies Solutions Group; Lynn Shepard to vice president of product engineering; and Paul Clayson to vice president of strategic business development.

The HealthCare Solutions Group, lead by Ivan Mimica, will initially market the PowerScribe family of dictation/transcription products. This award winning technology cost-effectively and rapidly captures, transcribes and manages dictated clinical information across a network. Bill Kania will head the Interactive Technologies Solutions Group which will initially market such technologies as the AV1700 Text Reader, a standalone application that can speak any text file back to the user; the 3D Assistant, an animated intelligent desktop agent; and Allegro handwriting recognition software.
Lynn Shepherd will also support the new operating structure in his role as vice president of product engineering. In this capacity, Shepherd will incorporate all existing product development efforts into cohesive product engineering teams focused on product delivery.
Paul Clayson will lead fonix' efforts to develop and extend major corporate relationships in the embedded systems markets. Clayson will assume responsibility for sales relationships with Siemens and other prospective OEM partners and work with fonix product engineering teams to drive recurring revenue projects.
