Maybe I shouldn't have called it "dumping"
but they are lowering prices to lower than
they have in the past given similar situations,
and swaping the names. How much was the 486
fastest 486 when the same # of Pentiums were
sold as the # of Pros that have been sold now?
You say that the P55C will replace the Pentium,
not the Pro. I agree, because I wouln't buy a
Pro, but I would buy the P55C when it comes out
if the performance is good. What I had been
hoping is that they would make a Pro-Lite. But
I guess that that is what the P55C will be, but
without the Pro or Lite in the name. But it is
not even available yet. Were the top of the
line 486's the same price, cheaper, or more
expensive than the P200 is now 6 months before
the Pentium was released? As I recall it, I see
the Pentiums selling too cheap right now. It
could be that the volumes today are so much
greater than they were in the 486 days, but
if not, then the next earnings report will
tell us. I think not, and therefor think that
the stock will go down with a lower than expected
earnings. But I am still not confident enough
about the prediction to bet on it. What I am
doing now is trying to either gain that confidence
or forget the idea.
