"we want to let the free market handle [environment] it and do something more realistic like go nuclear."
Free market runs on Quarter over quarter earnings per share growth. I can see free market win out with space exploration etc. But how would you justify an investment in growing a tree, that takes years to grow and minutes to bring it down ?

"You want gay marriage, most of us are fine with civil unions. They can do what they want in their bedroom, just don't screw with something as fundamental as marriage."

Are you just defending the word "marriage" here ? If we pick another word called "xyz" and give exactly same priviledges like tax break, insurance coverage to "xyz" as "marriage", is that alright with you ? What specifically are the gays/lesbians destroying, that is not already broken in a marriage with 50% divorce rate ? Are you doing it because the Pope/Bible says so. Is there any logical reason to not grant them the rights ?

"You guys hate a war where we have national security interests, but are ok with a war where we don't have national security interests (Bosnia, Kosovo etc). Ok, so we may be pretty far apart on this point.

We do disagree here. Personally I hate wars, all wars. There is difference in understanding of what we are saying. Just because we say we dont support war in iraq (or afghanistan) does not mean we endorse what bin laden does. We dislike both. We dislike deaths of innocent people anywhere. And it is possible to do that. In fact, we believe it is necessary to carry that belief for world peace, even though there may be cases when you have to fight and civilians may get killed.

"How do these things compromise the woman's right to choose? Choice is fine, but you guys take it to a point where it's casual disregard for human life."

I agree this is controvesial. BTW, there is a big difference between "supporting partial-birth abortion" and "choice of partial-birth abortion". Endangering womens health is one extreme and casual disregard in another. There may be some middle ground here, like you suggested.

Bum.
