More than that magnificent achievement, I admire her other ethics and principles.
Mountain climbing is risky business. Willi Unsoeld, who gave seminars on high risk recreation, died on Mt. Rainier. en.wikipedia.org
Some colleagues and I wanted to summit Mt. Jefferson back in the 1970s. We got within sight of the top, but we had to cross a short knife-edge ridge that had precipitous drops on both sides which would have been fatal if one of us fell. Our leader had previously made the summit and was an experienced climber, so he and one other went right across. The fellow in front of me was unwilling to cross (to my relief, I might add), so the two who had crossed came back and we all went down together. I credit them with the highest of ethics, because there was no ridicule or even good-natured ribbing that would have shamed either of us who did not cross.
